Frameless shower doors

If you want to use frameless shower glass doors for your bathroom remodel in southern Louisiana, you've come to the right place. Frameless doors—also called heavy glass options—are a popular option for today's homeowners for a number of reasons.

Many people love frameless showers because they can:

  • Be customized to match the exact dimensions of your space and needs
  • Open up a room, providing a clean look without bulky hardware
  • Showcase intricate tile work or marble
  • Be easier to clean than framed options, with fewer nooks and crannies
  • Provide better usability for those with accessibility concerns
  • Add a modern look for a higher resale value

Frameless glass shower doors do have their own challenges, though. When not designed correctly, they may leak. When not installed from high-quality materials, they may have issues with shattering.

As we'll discuss later in this page, M&M Glass is an expert at installing the best shower doors in southern Louisiana. Because of our decades of experience, we help you avoid these challenges. Everything from the selection of materials to showerhead placement to initial measurements matters. We pride ourselves on doing a thorough job from the very beginning, for every project.

Framed shower doors

Frameless shower doors may be all the rage right now, but framed shower doors have their own substantial benefits. When you work with M&M Glass, we focus on finding the shower doors that work best for you, whether that's framed or frameless.

Since they don't require thicker glass and specialty hardware for support, framed showers tend to be more affordable. For some homeowners, the lower cost of a framed door outweighs the benefits of a frameless setup.

Framed doors are usually more water-tight than frameless options. We also offer a variety of glass finishes and hardware options, so you can customize the look and feel of your shower. With the right finishes, your framed door can open up your room and add a sense of lightness to your space.

With our framed shower doors, you'll be able to choose from the bypass, inline, and pivot styles. We also offer custom and steam room options. Check out our framed shower portfolio below!

Steam showers

Looking for the most luxurious upgrade for your bathroom? Look no further than steam showers. These add warm and soothing self-care to your space where you can unwind at the end of a long day.

Steam showers go from floor to ceiling to create an airtight area where steam can accumulate. Above the door itself, many steam showers have a movable transom. This is a separate pane of glass that you can open to vent the shower or close off to turn into a steam shower. Our team works hard to ensure the space is set up correctly for steaming, checking that the ceiling and walls can withstand the additional moisture.

Made For Your Home

When you work with M&M Glass to design your shower, we know you're investing in the long-term use and beauty of your home. We don't take that responsibility lightly.

From the very beginning, our glass experts create a design that meets your needs and budget. You'll start with a free consultation and we'll typically have an estimate for you in less than 24 hours. Here's what you can expect from there.

The design process

We know that a great finished product starts at the very beginning. Our team measures your space exactly to ensure the perfect fit, adding any customizations you want.

If you go with a frameless option, we also advise you on the best way to reduce leakage. This starts at that initial exact measurement, ensuring the right fit for your glass. It goes further, too.

For example, we know that when your showerhead points at a door or seam, there is a higher possibility of water leakage. Because of that, we typically design spaces with the showerhead pointed at the ground (as with rain showerheads) or to a tiled wall or fixed pane of glass.

If you're adding a steam shower, we'll ensure your ceiling is tiled appropriately to avoid any moisture issues.

Your shower door options

The types of shower doors you choose also influence your final design. We offer doors in the following styles:

  • Bypass, or sliding shower doors: These doors slide past each other to open, reducing the space you need for use
  • Pivot doors: These work like typical doors, swinging outward with a handle to allow you into the shower
  • Inline doors: Similar to pivot doors, inline doors open outward like a normal door, but they can be set flush (in a straight line) within other large glass panels

Due to safety codes, all hinged (pivot and inline) shower doors must be able to open outwards. However, you can add dual-opening hinge doors that open both inward and outward. You'll generally need 30" or more of space outside your shower to add hinged doors.

Glass materials

When it comes to your safety, we don't leave anything to chance. We'll work closely with you or your contractor to design shower doors with the strength and stability you need.

Our standard thickness for shower doors is 3/8 inch glass. For taller or wider showers, we recommend ½ inch glass. All of our shower doors are made from tempered glass. This type of glass is designed for your long-term safety. If it does shatter, it breaks into thousands of small pieces that are less dangerous.

You'll also be able to choose from different types of glass. Beyond the standard clear glass, we offer:

  • Ultra-clear, or low iron, glass: Standard clear glass may have a slight green tint. Low iron glass has a reduced iron content that results in less green and beautiful colorless clarity.
  • Textured glass: This type of glass adds depth and texture to help obscure objects beyond it. We offer a variety of minimally- to highly-textured finishes, depending on your needs.
  • Tinted glass: You may prefer a slight tint to your shower doors, and can choose from light blush tones to cool blues that match your home.

Shower options

Finally, you'll be able to customize all of the hardware for your shower. Pick your favorite finish and style for your:

  • Knobs and handles
  • Hinges
  • Bases and curbs
  • Insets and other add-ons
