  • Mirrors – Beveled Strips

Want to give your bathroom or vanity an instant facelift? Beveled mirror strips combine affordable ease with a luxurious finished look to transform your home's mirrors. The team at M&M Glass designs and installs custom glass pieces in Louisiana for residents in the Baton Rouge, New Orleans, North Shore, and Lafayette communities. This is what you can expect when adding beveled mirror strips to your home.

Revitalize Your Look

Mirrors are often the centerpiece of a bathroom vanity area, bar, or hallway. They light up your living spaces to create the feeling of an open, more inviting home. No matter where your mirrors are in your home, we know they need to be perfect.

At M&M Glass, we've helped remodelers, new homeowners, and small business owners with their custom glass needs since 1984. Beveled mirror strips are among the most accessible and affordable glass pieces you can add to your mirrors for instant impact.

Glass strips are beveled when its edges are cut at a specific angle into a thinner end. Rather than a standard edge to your mirrors, a beveled one looks more polished and finished. It also reflects light better. Because of its angled edge, it allows for multiple reflections from different angles. This depth gives the illusion of a larger space in your bathroom, hallway, or vanity area.

At M&M Glass, we install both true beveled mirrors, as well as beveled strips. If you want to upgrade an existing mirror, beveled mirror strips are a great option.

Instant upgrade

Over time, small black spots can appear on the edges of older mirrors. This process is known as desilvering or mirror rot. It occurs when the inner parts of the mirror are exposed to steamy, humid environments (like your bathroom after a long shower!) or harsh cleaning agents. It's a natural process that many homeowners struggle with.

The good news is that the black spots typically don't spread—they'll usually extend a few inches into your mirror and stop. The bad news is that the rot is difficult or impossible to remove once it's there.

If your mirror is in good shape otherwise, you can save yourself a more costly replacement by using beveled mirror strips. These strips are made from high-quality glass and lay directly on top of your existing mirror. They're fixed in place with adhesive for a secure and seamless look. They easily cover most instances of mirror rot, ensuring that you don't see the unsightly black spots.

Even better? Since you're not replacing an entire mirror, this upgrade is usually more affordable and faster to install. Want to see how beveled strips could transform your mirrors? Check out our design gallery here.

Custom beveled mirror strips

Beveling helps you take your standard mirrors and turn them into something special. Without an additional frame or replacement mirror, you can completely change the look of your space with a custom beveled mirror.

At M&M Glass, we install custom beveled mirror strips that fit your mirrors exactly. Work with our team to design strips that match the unique size and shape of your existing mirrors. We can also add decorative square corners or finish them at a 45° angle for a framed look.

During the design process, you'll choose the width of your mirror strips as well as the glass thickness. Our beveled strips generally come in ¼ inch glass at their thickest point. Typically, we recommend a width of 2-inch beveled strips for larger bathroom mirrors. We can also design thinner strips for smaller mirrored areas, like bar backsplashes or closet insets.

Design and installation

Once you've decided to move forward with your project, we're focused on providing the best possible experience.  When installing beveled mirror strips, we first measure your mirrors exactly so your finished product is completely seamless.

We design all of our glass pieces right here in Louisiana. Your beveled mirror strips will usually be made from ¼ inch tempered glass. We're focused on safety so we choose tempered glass for the majority of our residential projects. If your piece is damaged in the future, this type of glass breaks into thousands of small pieces that are less dangerous.

Once your pieces are ready for install, our local team will treat your home like their own. We ensure that every mirror strip is securely fastened so you can enjoy your finished look for years to come. For beveled strips, the overall installation process only takes a few hours. After, our team will answer any questions you have and discuss the best ways to care for your mirrors. You'll have a one-year warranty period on all M&M Glass projects, as well as repairs on projects we installed for you.
